About The Book
Some Feelings Ask to Be Read Slowly
A Quiet Place Inside Me gathers forty-one interconnected poems into an intimate journey across affection, heartbreak, faith, loneliness, acceptance, and renewal. Sandeep Singh Madan begins with the warmth of early attachment, then gradually moves toward distance, loss, spiritual questioning, and a quieter understanding of self.
The collection unfolds across four thematic sections, each marking a shift in emotional perspective. Romantic hope appears beside childhood recollections, family bonds, migration, unanswered affection, and the ache of living far from home. Later poems turn toward prayer, doubt, mercy, human suffering, and the complicated relationship between belief and disappointment. The closing pieces lean into self-worth, survival, and the courage to continue without pretending that old wounds simply vanish.
Nature becomes a recurring language across the pages. Roses, rain, oceans, sunflowers, stars, trees, gardens, and changing skies reflect feelings that ordinary conversation may fail to hold. Letters, benches, tram stations, bedrooms, and city streets bring the poems back to recognizable moments, giving abstract emotion a physical place to live.
Original aquarelle illustrations by Daniel Korcsmar accompany the collection, adding another layer of expression to its inward movement. Readers are not handed neat answers or a complete explanation of each experience. Instead, the poems leave room for interpretation.
A Quiet Place Inside Me speaks to anyone who has carried love privately, questioned faith, missed home, lost connection, or searched for peace without knowing exactly where to look. Its pages offer a corner where emotion can breathe, memory can surface, and hope can return in unexpected forms.
